Mission:
Our mission is to provide support and guidance with a holistic approach to educational organizations that serve Limited English Proficient (LEP) community members. In addition, the Educational Committee is willing to assist the educational organizations to implement cultural and linguistically appropriate services for the benefits of the community and the upcoming generations.

Misión: Nuestra misión es proporcionar apoyo y orientación con un enfoque total a las organizaciones educativas que atienden a miembros de la comunidad que tienen un Proficiente de Inglés Limitado (LEP, por sus siglas en Inglés). Adicionalmente, el Comité de Educación está dispuesto a ayudar a las organizaciones educativas a implementar servicios culturales y lingüísticos apropiados para el beneficio de la comunidad y generaciones futuras.

Long Island Bilingual ESL Technical Assistant Center Network: This link is to a presentation created by the Long Island Bilingual ESL Technical Assistant Center Network titled “Long Island ESL/Bilingual Coordinators Networking Meeting.” The presentation contains information about the number of students on Long Island who are LEP/ELL in the public schools. It also explains the Federal and New York State regulations regarding LEP services that should be provided in public schools.

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR): NCLR’s Education component is dedicated to increasing educational opportunities, improving achievement, supporting college-readiness, and promoting equity in outcomes for Latinos. In keeping with this mission, the efforts of the Education team build the capacity and strengthen the quality of the community-based education sector and inform the broader public education system.

The National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition The National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition collects, coordinates and conveys a broad range of research and resources in support of an inclusive approach to high quality education for ELLs.
